Matlock illuminations have a long established history dating back to 1897—first held to celebrate Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee, today the event still features
decorated and illuminated boats that are produced by the members of the Matlock Bath Venetian Boat Builders Association and rowed by them each Saturday and Sunday during illumination season. Family entertainment is on or near the bandstand in Derwent Gardens each evening with a clifftop firework display as the finale at 9.00pm—tonight is the last night of the fireworks! Lets hope it’s a good display. A small local charge is payable to access Derwent Gardens.
